What to Know Before Your First Filler Appointment

First time getting dermal filler? Here’s everything you need to know — from prep and expectations to aftercare and results. Learn what to expect at SnatchedTO.

Nervous? Excited? Totally Normal.

Getting filler for the first time is a big (and empowering) decision. Whether you’re here for lips, cheeks, chin, or under-eyes — this guide will help you walk into your appointment feeling confident, informed, and snatched-ready.

A Week Before Your Appointment

Avoid:

  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin or Ibuprofen
  • Fish oil, vitamin E, or herbal supplements

These can thin your blood and make you more prone to swelling and bruising.

Do:

  • Hydrate like it’s your job
  • Eat leafy greens + vitamin K-rich foods
  • Get plenty of sleep

If you’ve had recent dental work, vaccines, or are on certain medications — be sure to disclose that in your intake form or consult.

Because we don’t just inject — we educate, guide, and personalize your experience with care.

Day of Your Appointment

Skip makeup

We’ll remove it anyway, and clean skin helps reduce the risk of irritation or bacteria near injection sites.

Wear comfy clothes

You’ll be lying back and relaxing — leggings and a hoodie? Perfect.

Bring your inspo… but keep an open mind

I’ll guide you based on your anatomy, not someone else’s. Think “inspired by” not “copied from.”

What Happens During Your Appointment?

  1. Consultation & Facial Mapping: We’ll assess your face at rest and in motion, and create a custom plan to enhance balance, symmetry, and structure.
  2. Pre-Treatment Photos: So you can track your glow-up later
  3. Numbing Cream (if needed): Especially for lips and sensitive areas
  4. Precise Injections: Most sessions take 20–40 minutes
  5. Aftercare Talk: You’ll leave knowing exactly what to do (and not do) post-treatment

What to Expect After Filler

You may experience:

  • Mild swelling
  • Tenderness or firmness at the injection site
  • Bruising (common with lips or under-eyes)

All of this is normal — and usually resolves in 3–5 days. Lips may look “big” or uneven at first — let them settle. Full results: 1–2 weeks. Touch-up (if needed): after 14 days.
